Probably was not all that popular. I was not upset at all when the entire force was killed in the comic.

Actually the entire force was not killed. My favorite, Dodger, survived Bensheen

Most of the sub-teams are one-hit (year) wonders. They refried Tiger Force and Python Patrol years later, but the color design differed dramatically from the originals (for better or worse). I think BF2000 was so over-the top, and though technologically advanced, much less cool that the Iron Grenadiers, that Hasbro cut their losses. The comic continuity was the nail in the coffin.

I actually like BF2000. Early Joe stuff was typically "experimental" (e.g. Flash's XMLR1 rifle), so I've amped up the Battleforce guys' intellects and abilities to deal with their gear when it goes kaput. Like high-tech mechanics. And nearly every vehicle is better if you forget the conversion aspect. The Marauder (a motorcycle tank?!) is a bad idea, but the Vector is pretty cool if you ditch the bubble.

    Thumbs up

Actually, the motorcycle tank was used in WWII. The German Kettenkrad - a motorcycle ½-track. Not the same as the Marauder, but it did get a lot of use. Very interesting machine.

I wasn't a big fan of BF2000, but some of the ideas used there were pretty good form a play value perspective.

Whoa....people die in the GI Joe comics? I was never a hardcore reader, but I don't remember anyone ever dying. Was that something that happen for towards the end of the run?

Nope, people died in the beginning also. Mind you they weren't violent, graphic deaths, but you knew they were no more.

    From 100ish on I think.
Doc, Breaker, Crazylegs, Thunder, Heavy metal, Crank Case, Sneak peek, Quick kick, 6 of the 7 BF2000. Most of the Oktober Guard. Raptor. Croc Master. Dr Mindbender.
    Later on a few more.

The later comic runs from Devil's Due killed off others like Lady Jaye, Hardball and Big Boa.

I heard Jinx died in a recent comic, although it's a different continuity.

Check out issues #19, 43, 61 (Cobra Commander shot and killed, which is retconned in issue 98), 98 (Cobra traitors are left for dead and only a few are heard from again), 109, 112 (1 Joe and 1 Cobra who's revenge death is implied), and 113 (the BF 2000 issue and 1 other Joe). There are other deaths, but these are the most talked about ones from what I have seen.

Check out the GIJOE: Cobra 1st 4-part mini series from IDW for Jinx's fate.
