To Sell or Not to Sell Entire Collection

SO hey everybody. I have a bit of a delimma. I am a huge GI Joe fan and collector but I feel taht my collecting is affecting other area's of my personal life. I have debt like everyone else and in no way shape or form am I struggling to make ends meet. My predicament is that my collecting is also a business and I am currently trying to become a successful realtor here in my home town. I find myself staying home a lot and looking for deals online as my dream is really to have my own online business selling toys and comics. Now I could just give up real estate and pursue this dream but I don't think it is achievable or feesable at this time with the market and economy. I mean seriously who buys comics and toys now with the market the way it is. It's in shambles. I have over 80 carded vintage joes and hundreds of LMC figures tons of vehicles etc not to mention the other toy lines and thousands of comics I have. SHould i just sell it all and use the money to pay off debt and try to become a success at real estate or do I keep doing what I am doing and feel like I'm stuck in a rut. I know I could at least get 15K for all my stuff with work maybe even more if I get stuff graded. Any advice would be great. Thanks to all who read this. Do what your heart wants to do. But i dont think its wroth keeping your joes and toys if that means giving up on your job you want to do. Hey, If you became a successful real estate, hopefully you earn enoph to get what you all have and more in your collection!

Its a tough spot to be in, think Kann is right about following your heart/gut-feeling. Without knowing either of the job-markets I would think that real estate is probably better in the long term whereas toy/comics are more prone to peoples urge to re-live their childhood and extra income on top of all their regular bills.

I know that with a average budget of $5.500 a month in 2012 I will be seriously cutting down on any kind of collecting (except when special offers drag me back in, hint-hint )

yep talked it over with my mom and I decided to start selling off everything. My mom basically told me the same thing that you guys are saying. She told me to sell off whatever I can as it's not really doing me any good just sitting here in my basement. I have 8000 comics and a ton of toys. I am just going to start a ebay store I think as I have so much stuff it would end up saving me in the long run I think. So stay tuned to the forums for links to tons of auctions in the months to come. I will probably do the comics 1st then the GI Joe stuff as it's my favorite. I should be getting back a GI Joe 1 from CGC any day now that scored a 9.8 CGC grade. And I have a ton more stuff so keep your eyes peeled people!!!!

I know its a really hard decision but I am sure that later on when you are a huge real estate tycoon and have a huge@ss mansion you will get right back into collecting again

Ps: If you have a complete run of the Joe Marvel comics I would be more than happy to buy a set from you.

Not a complete run but I got a large chunk of it and nearly all in super high grade. Also ahve the last like 7 or 8 issues as well. Got them in a trade about a month ago for my ASM 129 I sold to a kid for Overstreet w/the trade. Anyways email me at goodkidcomix@yahoo.com if you are interested. I try to settle as much as I can outside of Fee-bay to avoid various extra costs so if we can find a reasonable price on a set of Marvel comics with shipping to a US address then that would be awesome I will mail you directly and we can continue from there.

I would sell. Your carear is more inportain tehn Joes. You never know when the Joe/toy market will crash and the comic books migh suddenly go down in value too! never know with the economy these days.
