I store my moc Joes in AFA style acrylic cases and have them upright on shelves in my "Joe closet". I think that's the best way to preserve them and to keep their o-rings in tact. These things weren't made to last, so the less you move them around the longer they will stay in good shape.

I have gobs and gobs of vintage Joes and SW hanging on walls in star cases. The room is generally dark from the sun so I do OK.

I store mine vertical in 80Lt storage tubs in comic bags and cardboard backing (lots of 93-94).
The 80-early 90's figures that fit in star cases are in cases.
